Colony History: Hla®(SHR)CVF®
Spontaneously Hypertensive Rat

Complete viral antibody profiles, gross pathology profiles, bacteriology profiles, growth charts, and blood chemistries are available for this strain.

The colony history began with animals selected for hypertension from a colony of Wistar rats. They colony is descended from animals originally developed in 1963 by Okamoto and Aoki.

Through cesarean derivation, the animals were fostered onto rats in isolation.

All colony histories contain some possiblity of inaccuracy. This information is being provided to the best of Hilltop's knowledge.

The coat color of the rat is albino. The rat is propagated using an outbred breeding syste. Colonies do develop qualities causing the rats to be uniquely suited to certain types of research.
